Dr. Diane M. Turner-Bowker is an experimental psychologist and outcomes research expert with more than 25 years of experience in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research. Recognized internationally for her work in the area of health outcomes, clinical outcome assessment (COA), and patient-centered research, Diane has also conducted outcomes and evaluation research in several other settings, including education, government, and public health, among others. She specializes in research involving pediatric, aging, cognitively impaired, rare disease, and low literacy populations. Diane has developed and psychometrically validated questionnaires across numerous therapeutic areas to support regulated medical product/drug development, payer and reimbursement strategies, marketing, disease management, clinical practice, patient self-monitoring and management, and patient-provider participatory decision-making. As Principal- and Co-Investigator on several NIH-sponsored grants, she led innovative research yielding computer-based assessment systems that applied modern psychometric methods to the development of computerized adaptive tests (CAT), including tailored score feedback reports for patients, caregivers, and clinicians. Diane has produced university-accredited multi-media educational programs on the use of patient-centered outcome measures and has served as editorial reviewer for journals such as Quality of Life Research, scientific reviewer for the NIH Center for Scientific Review, and has produced a wide variety of scientific communications, including multiple published works. She earned her PhD from the University of Rhode Island and a Six Sigma Green Belt from Villanova University.
Maia Bowker is a professionally trained writer and certified medical editor focused on scientific communications for health, education, and social/public policy initiatives. At Raven Outcomes, Maia is lead writer/editor and offers expertise in data visualization techniques and plain language editing of health materials. Maia founded Raven Outcomes with a special interest in improving health equity. Maia believes that clearly communicated health information can empower patients to better manage their health and participate more actively in healthcare decision-making. She earned her BA in English & Writing from Southern New Hampshire University and is an American Medical Writing Association (AMWA)-certified Medical Editor.
